ASID TN Chapter President's Letter

November, 11, 2009

Hello to all members! We are off to a great start for the 2009- 2010 year. As the incoming President, I would like to share some of my thoughts and goals for this year with you.
Our topics are short, but have huge impact. These topics are our goals that are part of our Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan is a rolling plan that spans 3 years giving us a guide to what the needs are for our members.

Our first goal is COMMUNICATION. While we are one of the strongest chapters in the country, we are also demographically challenged. That means we need more leadership to connect to ALL our members. Your elected chapter board members have been working hard to get our new website up and running. This week it went live! Please remember that we need your information (articles, events, awards, announcements, schedules, pictures, etc.) that pertains to our community. This website is linked to our national website. We have partnered with DSA Publishing and Naylor, a multi media company, to facilitate our website and newsletter.
We are also utilizing Facebook, Twitter & Blogspot. These sites are linked to the website.  www.asidtn.org

With our new website in place, communication will become easier. And that allows us to reach new members. There is a category of designers ,"emerging professionals" , that describes these designers as: recent graduates, in the workforce for 2-10 years, ambitious, leaders, etc...This is a category that we would like to become stronger in. With our new multi-media package we will be able to connect with these professionals, as well as, all the designers and design affiliates in Tennessee (and the world).

Your elected local and state board members are working very hard to give you( our members) the knowledge through CEU's, the relationships through meetings, communication through multi-media, products and services through our Industry Partners, design community information gateway through our national website, and so much more. Please acknowledge the leaders in your local communities because without them, we would not be as strong a chapter.

As a leader of this great chapter, I invite each of you to become active in your local ASID community events. We are actively looking for all your "Best Practices" that we can submit to national headquarters for recognition and to give each other great ideas to implement locally and state wide. We are also looking for those local leaders to become state leaders, and eventually national leaders. Historically, Tennessee has produced multiple national leaders that shape the future of our great profession, Interior Design.

As your President, my door is always open. If I can not answer your question or concern, I will happily connect you to the person who will. You may email, text, facebook, call, fax, write, or leave a message at my office. With so many ways to connect, these are the best for now.
I am looking forward to connecting with each of you this year.

Sincerely,

Jill Hertz, ASID,CMG
President, TN Chapter ASID
